Summer Program 2021

2022 Summer Soccer Games

Description

  • The Summer Soccer Games is a game-focused program.
  • The idea is to get kids out there and play some casual relaxed soccer.

The Season

  • Games begin 18 June.
  • Games end 28 July.
  • Because of the structure of the program, we'll keep taking registrations as long as we have enough coaches.
  • The Program Fee is $50. If you did not participate in AYSO in Fall, Winter, or Spring, you might also pay $20 Player Fee.
  • There are no standings, playoffs, or photo day. There will not be trophies or medals. We may have some end of summer activity.

The Team

  • The teams will be formed Jamboree style. This means that the players (per group) will be shuffled into new teams for each game.
  • Two players may sometimes be teammates, sometimes be opponents, or sometimes be part of a different game.
  • This style of team selection is useful because we expect times players may be traveling, busy, sick, or can't make it, and being absent won't affect a team this way.
  • Players in the same age group will still be at the same field at the same time, even if different teams or games, so carpooling is still a good option.

The Game

  • Game Play is very flexible.
  • We will adhere to proper safety rules, and use referees at all ages to help manage game play. (For the 2016 / 2017 groups, the game monitor acts as referee.)
  • Number of players per team, field size, and goal size may vary based on number of players participating.
  • We may or may not use goalkeepers at the older ages, depending on factors mentioned above.
  • Games are likely to be roughly 40 minutes (younger players) to 60 minutes (older players) in length.
  • Games are currently expected to be at University Park on Saturdays as well as for the weekday evening games. Specific weekday can be seen during the registration process (once established).

The Practice

  • This is a game-oriented program. There will not be separate practices.
  • There may be organized warm-ups or very brief instructions/training at times prior to games.

The Player

  • More experienced players will enjoy the casual relaxed game play format.
  • Newer players will improve skills and learn rules and techniques simply by watching, playing, and doing.
  • Proper equipment is required at all activities - Shoes, shin guards covered by socks, jersey, practice vest, soccer ball, drink.
  • Players cannot play with any earrings, necklaces, friendship bracelets, any type of jewelry, hard casts, etc.

Your Role

  • Remind the player to wear proper gear and bring their ball, water, and practice vest.
  • Remind or help the player to remove earrings, necklaces, any other jewelry prior to participating.
  • Leave pets at home. If you do bring them to the park, you must be off of the field, on or behind the sidewalk.
  • Consider signing up with us to become a coach, referee, or division coordinator.
    • We need lots of coaches at each age. Training is easy, and up through most ages can be done completely online.
    • We need referees. This is a great chance for new and youth referees to get trained or get some experience without any pressure of messing up.
    • We need a division coordinator at each age to help us shuffle teams once or twice per week.
    • To sign up or discuss any of these, or other roles, email us: [ Email ]
