AYSO Irvine Region 213 - Serving Irvine for 40 years

Program Description

Winter All Stars

At the conclusion of the Fall rec season, we offer the All Star program (via tryouts and coach select) to boys and girls, ages 10U to 14U. In order to be eligible, the player must have been on a Fall Rec team for at least half the season.

The All Star program prepares players to advance to more competitive levels of play. Our region plays against other All Star teams within Area Q in January.

There are usually 8 games over 4 weeks. Each Saturday, they will have two games - one home and one away (in one of our neighboring regions). We expect players to represent the region by competing with effort and sportsmanship. The winners of the season in each division progress on to the Sectional All Star tournament, in mid to late February.

The All Star players are selected based on coach select from Fall and post season observations, with input from the region. There also may be tryouts offered.

The All Star program is a more advanced level of play than the Fall primary season, thus requiring a greater commitment from the player. We expect players in our All Star program to make the program their top sports priority during this season. This is from late November through early February. We don't mind if the player is involved in other sports, only that conflicts are resolved in favor of the All Star team.

Practices may start shortly after Thanksgiving and will continue through the season. You can expect two practices per week. Teams may play pre-season or post-season tournaments as well.

All Star Calendar

Being updated for the 2021 season...

  • Jan 6, 2022 All Star Coach meeting, TBD
  • Jan 08, 2022 All Star games begin
  • Jan 29, 2022 All Star games conclude
  • Feb 19-20, 2022 Sectional All Star Playoffs, San Diego
  • Mar 12-13, 2022 Western States, Morgan Hill

All Stars is a conclusion of the Fall season. At the conclusion of the All-season, the program is complete, unless the team continues to Section Playoffs or Western States Championships.

Teams do not automatically move on to Spring Select. Some players may be asked to join a Spring Select team, and some teams may be invited, but most will return for more great play in the rec program.

Process for Accepting the All-Star invitation

Once try-outs/observations are completed, your division's all-star coach will personally invite players to the team. This is done either in person, via email, or by phone. If you are invited, you will also get an email from our website, asking you to complete the registration, including payment. Website registration needs to be completed before being assigned to a team.

How to accept:

  • Log in to your account.
  • Click on the Login button in the upper right hand corner of the screen and enter your username and password. (If you have multiple accounts, you will need to make sure you are logging in using the same username and password that you used to register your child. You will not be able to complete registration if you log into the wrong account.)
  • Click on the cart icon on the upper right, you will see program 2022 Winter All Stars in there
  • Scroll down and click on Continue to start the registration
  • Follow all steps through to the checkout screen.
  • Select your desired method of payment. (If you are paying by credit card, make sure that all information on the checkout screen matches your card’s billing information exactly.)
  • Click Submit to process the registration.

Coaches don't always invite everyone at the same time. Some players are invited sooner than others. Once the team is formed, however, the coach or the region will send out an email to notify anyone who was not selected.  Thank you for your patience during this process!

Whether or not your player is selected for all-stars, consider signing them up for our new Winter Skills Training Program on Sundays for all players (ages 8 and up) who want to stay active with soccer during the winter season and improve their skills, either on the field or as keepers!
