Early Week 3 Update

Hello R213 Families,

A few updates for today.

Air Quality
In any area where you can see or smell smoke, everyone should avoid vigorous exertion and limit outdoor exposure.I
The region is strongly recommending coaches to cancel practice for today, for health reasons.

Picture Day
This Saturday is picture day. We will try to have the photo day schedule out by tomorrow, possibly today. It will be available on our website. Please check our website under 'Schedule' to find your times. We still need about 4 or 5 volunteers to cover shifts. Email me or sign up on the Volunteer Credit form if you are willing to help for a shift.

Referee Coverage
Last week was rough for the younger ages, with 6 games at risk Friday night. Only 2 games ended up being cancelled. We had 7 people come to our U8 Official course, and several of those new referees are already signing up to cover games this week. Big thanks to those new referees.

Sideline Behavior
At our coach meeting, at our parent meeting, in every course we teach, we talk about a few things. Coaches support the team, referees are in charge of the game, and spectators cheer everyone along. As a spectator, or coach, you may not always agree with the referee, but during game time, you must respect the referee's decisions. If you argue back and forth with the referees about their calls, about their pregame instructions such as not wearing earrings, or about their abilities, you risk being suspended for one or more future games. This is especially true of youth or new referees. And yes, this did happen last week. The bottom line is: Don't argue with the referee.

*At times, referees make mistakes. If you feel the need to share some constructive criticism about a referee, please share your comments, along with the time and location of the game, with [email protected] This is the proper channel for you to assist.

Coach Reminder
Don't forget to claim your Volunteer Credit. All teams are using the Volunteer Point System, and you and your assistant coach get a point each just for coaching. The Volunteer Credit form only takes about 30 seconds to complete.

Looking forward to another great weekend,

Doug B.
